How to Reset Your Network Settings in Windows 10 and Windows 11

Fixing network problems can be confusing, like trying to find your way through a complex puzzle. Sometimes, the solution to a difficult Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection is as easy as pressing the reset button. In this blog, we’ll show you how to reset your network settings in Windows 10 and Windows 11. This simple step can fix many network issues, including problems connecting to the internet or accessing websites and online services.

For Windows 10 Users

Step 1: Open Settings
Begin by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard. This shortcut introduces the Settings app, your control panel for adjusting various aspects of your Windows experience.

Step 2: Navigate to Network & Internet
Once in Settings, click on the “Network & Internet” option. This section houses all your network configurations, from Wi-Fi settings to VPN configurations.

Step 3: Access the Status Section
In the sidebar on the left, select “Status.” Then, scroll down in the main window until you find the “Network reset” link. This is where you’ll initiate the reset process.

Step 4: Perform the Network Reset
Click on the “Network reset” link. You’ll be taken to a new window that outlines what happens during a network reset. It’s important to note that this will remove and reinstall all your network adapters and restore networking components to their original settings.

Step 5: Confirm and Restart
Click on the “Reset now” button and confirm the action in the pop-up dialog. Your PC will need to restart to complete the reset, so save any work to avoid losing unsaved data.

For Windows 11 Users

Step 1: Open Settings
Press the Windows + I keys together to open the Settings app. This is your gateway to modifying your computer’s settings, including network configurations.

Step 2: Go to Network & Internet
Select “Network & Internet” from the sidebar in the Settings app. This section contains all the settings related to your computer’s network connections.

Step 3: Advanced Network Settings
Scroll down to “Advanced network settings” and click on it. Here, you’ll find more detailed settings related to your network configuration.

Step 4: Network Reset Option
Look for “Network reset” under “More settings.” This option leads to the network reset screen, where you can begin resetting your network adapters and components.

Step 5: Initiate and Confirm Reset
Click the “Reset now” button on the Network reset screen and confirm your decision in the prompt that appears. As with Windows 10, this action will necessitate a computer restart. Ensure all critical work is done beforehand.
