How to Troubleshoot Windows 10 Reboot Loop

Imagine this: you’re in the middle of a critical project, and your Windows 10 Pro computer suddenly restarts. And again. And again. That sinking feeling in your stomach? That’s the frustration of a reboot loop, which can completely derail your workday. But don’t despair – there are things you can do to stop those endless restarts and get back to business.

Step 1: Check Those Power Settings
Sometimes, the simplest fixes are the most effective. Let’s start by making sure your power settings aren’t the culprit:

  1. Press Windows Key + R to bring up the Run dialog.
  2. Type powercfg.exe /restoredefaultschemes and press Enter.

Step 2: Let Windows Do Its Thing
Windows has its built-in problem-solver. Let’s see if it can find the source of your reboot loop:

  1. Search for “troubleshoot” in your Start menu and open “Troubleshoot settings.”
  2. Locate the “Power” troubleshooter and click “Run the troubleshooter”.
  3. Follow the instructions and see if Windows can get to the root of the problem.

Step 3: Take a Look at Sleep & Display
Could your computer restart because it needs to sleep or turn off the display? Adjust these settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Power & sleep (or Power & battery).
  2. For now, set both “Screen off” and “Sleep after” to “Never”. (You can change these back later if they’re not the cause of the issue.)

If your computer is still stuck in a reboot loop, a more complex issue might be at play, like a faulty driver update or a hardware problem. Don’t let this technical headache ruin your entire day.
